The Countdown to KidsFest is ON!!
This year’s program is jam packed with action and proving to be bigger and better than ever.
Event coordinator, Ms Ann Lehmann hopes to get more than 3000 children involved to top last year’s record of 2500.
“We have had so much support in the local community and there is so much fun to be had. As a bonus this year, we’ve had over 15 suggestions from kids themselves realised, which means the kids can do activities they themselves have come up with up”.
This year also boasts several, aboriginal cultural, activities to boost awareness and participation with aboriginal people in the area.
Over sixty events will be held over the week. Some highlights of this year’s program include:

Sunday May 15th:
Steam train rides, craft, reptiles and stories at the
KidsFest Picnic Illawarra Light Railway Museum

Monday May 16th:
Free activities for families with 0-5 year old children, including puppet show, face painting & Matilda's animals at the
Warilla North Open Day

Morning tea, entertainment and craft activities celebrating the importance of grandparents at the;
Grandparents Picnic at HARS

Guided Spotlight Tour In Blackbutt forest

Wednesday May 18th:
Free entry into Sunset Softplay (formally Playdays) for children under 5 years whilst parents and carers meet with child and family service experts at
The Children’s Health and Development Expo.
2 sessions:
9:30am - 11am and 11.30am – 1pm 48-50 Sunset Avenue Warilla

Thursday May 19th:
Enjoy a variety of interactive activities to help parents support their children's learning and development at,
The Playgroup Muster at Blackbutt Reserve.
10am- noon Blackbutt Reserve Shellharbour Road (entry near the Shellharbour Resort Motel)

Friday May 20th:
In the morning YellowKat Children's Show, Visit Tongarra Museum, Park & Play, followed by,
The Super Kids Show with The Nutrition Magician
12nn-1pm Ravensthorpe Guesthouse & Restaurant 56 Tongarra Rd Albion Park.
Then in the afternoon enjoy
Fishing by the Lake
3:30pm-5:30pm Pelican Park SthWest Shore Lake Illawarra.
a free fishing outing with bait , tackle and some fishing equipment provided or bring your own. Includes free BBQ.

Saturday May 21st:
Kites, marionette puppets, frog and backyard mini beast presentation, drumming, craft, face painting, dancing, festival parade followed by camping & cross cultural campfire story battle,
The Festival Finale,
from noon at the, Killalea State Park, Killalea Drive, Shell Cove. Bookings essential for camping. ph 02 4237 8589 cost $15/$5 (under 13 years).
