KIDSFEST SHELLHARBOUR FINALE FLOURISH!
KidsFest Shellharbour 2010 finished with the hugely successful Festival Finale at Little Park, Shellharbour on Saturday.
KidsFest Shellharbour Event Coordinator Carla Brookes says crowds this year broke all the records, with a twenty five per cent increase on last year’s numbers.
“We had more than 2,500 children attend 60 events during the week-long festival. Including parents and carers, we had about 7500 people turn out over the week,” she says.
KidsFest Shellharbour is an activity of Communities for Children Shellharbour funded by the Australian Government that takes place in the lead up to Families Week.
Event organisers say that much of the success of KidsFest is attributed to local businesses backing through sponsorship, “We would like to say a special thanks to Shellharbour City Print Shop, Westpac Shellharbour, Early Years Magazine, G.J. Gardner Homes, Stockland Shellharbour, Tourism Shellharbour, Elle HK Designs, Housing NSW, Illawarra Consulting and Shellharbour City Council. We are grateful also to many other local businesses and organisations who hosted events, volunteered their time and also gave services in kind which made this year’s KidsFest a wonderful community event.”
Tessa Parsons, Program Manager for Barnardos Communities for Children Shellharbour says she is thrilled with the success of KidsFest Shellharbour 2010.
“KidsFest Shellharbour has been a wonderful celebration of children in the city and an opportunity for families to connect with services in the area.
“We will build on this success and make sure KidsFest Shellharbour 2011 is even better,” she says.
KidsFest Shellharbour concluded with the Festival Finale, at Little Park, Shellharbour on Saturday. The Festival Finale finished with a colourful parade along the Shellharbour Foreshore.
